Aviation Insurance
Initially, the aviation insurances have been considered accident insurances. Subsequently, due to the complexity of this type of insurances and to the diversification of the protection needs, they became a separate category.
The Aviation Insurances, as well as the marine ones, are subject to international, sometimes bilateral treaties, which mainly refer to navigation and air safety and, implicitly, to the liability of the transport operators towards third parties. The first international convention of 1944 was signed in Chicago; the signing countries undertook to grant survolation rights in certain explicitly specified cases. As a result of this convention, the "International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was founded, which has the purpose to supervise and solve the air traffic related problems.
